Hi, I’m Dawn

Growing up in Singapore, Chinese herbs were just part of life. My grandmother and mother both saw TCM doctors, and herbal remedies were as normal in our house as cooking dinner. I didn’t think much of it at the time, and it was only after moving to Sydney that I started to really appreciate what I’d grown up with.

My path into practice began with Qi Gong. In 2012 I was going through a tough time personally and started training with a Qi Gong Master. The practice helped me in unexpected ways and opened my eyes to something I hadn’t been able to articulate before: that the body and mind are so deeply intertwined, and that real healing requires working with both. Chinese medicine made complete sense to me in that light. It’s a system built on the idea that we are part of nature, not separate from it, and that when we’re in flow with it, the body finds its way back to balance.

When my teacher began showing me how to apply those same techniques to support others, something clicked. I enrolled in my Bachelor of TCM at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and graduated in 2020. I continue to study, currently training in Neoclassical Acupuncture by Dr Slate Burris and practicing Master Tung distal acupuncture. Both have genuinely changed how I think and work in clinic.

That body-mind connection sits at the heart of how I practice. I find satisfaction in taking the time to explain what’s going on for a patient: why something is happening, what it reflects, and what we can do about it together. People tend to heal better when they understand themselves a little more.

In clinic I see a wide range of conditions including pain (headaches, migraines, back, knee and hip pain), anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, skin conditions, digestive issues, and women’s health including pregnancy support and gynaecological concerns. Sessions are tailored to you and may include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion or electroacupuncture, plus food and lifestyle advice where relevant.

Outside the clinic I keep up my own practice through Qi Gong, meditation and regular acupuncture. You’ll also find me out on the coastal and bush tracks around the Northern Beaches.

I’d love to help you. I’m in clinic on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings. Feel free to book online or give us a call at 02 8406 0679.
